The Herbalife program uses a partial meal replacement "shake" for two meals per day. For the third meal and snacks, users are encouraged to eat a balanced and healthy variety of low fat, low sugar foods of their choice with a particular focus on the recommended amount of protein each body requires. A minimum intake of 1200 calories per day is recommended along with 100 grams (depending on the individual) of protein.
Our meal replacement contains no animal products. The protein in our shake is derived from soy. Products containing healthful soy protein generally contain less fat - especially saturated fat - than those containing animal protein, and tend to be lower in calories and easier to digest than many animal proteins. Our soy also carries the FDA's highest rating (1.0 Protein Value Scoring) for protein quality, digestibility and absorbability. The program is high in fiber, contains no milk, lactose, or wheat and is very low in fat, cholesterol, and salt. Has no refined sugar and contain fructose equivalent to one small apple serving.
When combined with the other components of the progarm (vitamin-mineral-herbal supplements), users receive a nutritional program that is completely balanced for carbohydrates, protein, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, micro nutrients and provides all RDA's needed on a daily basis. The Herbalife's program follows the dietary guidelines for the American Dietetic Association, American Heart Association and American Cancer Society.
Vitamin/mineral tablets are taken at several intervals during the day for optimal absorbability, however, please note that Herablife is not a mega-dose vitamin program. Vitamins/minerals are provided in RDA's or within ranges recognized to be safe as supported by current medically accepted research. The program also uses herbs. The herbs are provided in nutritional quantities (microgram and milligrams) and not medicinal quantities (grams) which are 1000 to 10,000 times greater. Herbalife products comply with all FDA mega-dosing and labeling laws.
In addition to being a superb weight management program, it may help in the management of healthy conditions which are positively influenced by following healthy nutritional practices, such as diabetes, hypoglycemia, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, ulcers, allergies, and certain cancers as well as other conditions.
Soy foods and isoflavones have received considerable attention for their potential role in preventing and treating cancer and osteoporosis. The low breast cancer mortaility rates in Asian countries and the putative antiestrogenic effects of isolavones have fueled speculations that intake of soy-based foods reduce breast cancer risk. The data suggests that soy or isoflavones may reduce the risk of prostate cancer are encouraging also.
